He allowed three runs on six hits, while walking one and striking out a season-high eight in his first career meeting against Arizona. Encarnacion had five homers and eight RBI in the series. John McDonald, who was one of seven players with multiple hits, collected a pair, drove in two and scored twice for Toronto, which improved to 15-9 on the road. Billy Buckner (0-2) suffered the loss in his second start of the season after getting knocked around for eight runs -- seven earned -- on 11 hits over four- plus frames. He walked one and struck out a pair, as the Diamondbacks had their four-game win streak broken. Chris Young homered and knocked in two runs for Arizona. Tony Abreu doubled with one out in the home first and came in to score the game's first run on a two-out single by Justin Upton. Fred Lewis led off the third with a single and advanced to second base when Abreu's fielding error allowed Aaron Hill to reach. Both runners advanced on an Adam Lind ground out and came in to score when Jose Bautista stroked a base hit to center field. Marcum helped his own cause with a run-scoring double in the fourth that plated McDonald with one out to make it a 3-1 game. The Diamondbacks got a run back in their half of the fourth when Stephen Drew doubled to begin the inning and scored on a two-out single by Young. The Blue Jays then turned on the power switch in the fifth inning getting a two-run home run from Bautista and a monstrous two-run shot from Encarnacion, who left the yard three times Friday and again on Saturday. McDonald followed with a double that chased Buckner from the game and Jose Molina greeted Cesar Valdez with a base hit that scored McDonald to finish off the five-run rally for an 8-2 lead. Arizona tallied in the bottom half of the inning on a run-scoring single by Augie Ojeda that made it an 8-3 contest. McDonald came up with the bases loaded and two out in the sixth and sent a sinking line drive to left field that Conor Jackson did not make the catch on. Hill and Lind came in to score and then, when the ball skipped past Jackson, Encarnacion, who had been intentionally passed, was able to score all the way from first base. Toronto loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh against Saul Rivera and pushed across a run on a Lind sacrifice fly. Young launched a lead off long ball in the bottom of the ninth off Kevin Gregg to account for the game's final run. Game Notes Bautista has hit a home run in six of his last nine games and seven total during that stretch. He has also hit a major league best 10 round trippers in the month of May...Encarnacion has seven hits in six games since returning from the disabled list on Tuesday and six of them have been home runs...Lyle Overbay of the Blue Jays had two hits and has hit safely in six straight games...Abreu left the game with a sprained left wrist after tagging out Molina at second base in the fifth inning and was replaced by Ojeda...He will be further examined on Monday...Arizona leads the all-time series, 5-4...The Diamondbacks are 39-60 against the American League since 2004, while the Jays are 51-60 against the National League over that same stretch...Toronto designated pitcher Dana Eveland for assignment following the game.
