Durant paces Thunder to seventh straight victory

Oklahoma City, OK (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Kevin Durant extended his streak of games
with 25 or more points to 26, scoring exactly 25 in Oklahoma City's 99-86 win
over the new-look Dallas Mavericks.
Durant got points 24 and 25 on a floater with 26.6 seconds left in the game
and added 14 rebounds, as the Thunder won their season-high seventh straight
game to move 10 games above .500 (31-21). Jeff Green, Russell Westbrook and
James Harden each had 17 points in the win.
Dirk Nowitzki scored 24 points to lead the Mavericks, who lost for the sixth
time in eight games despite having some new faces in the lineup. Dallas pulled
off a blockbuster deal with Washington right before the All-Star break that
brought forward Caron Butler, center Brendan Haywood and guard DeShawn
Stevenson to the Mavericks.
Butler played 31 minutes and had 13 points and six rebounds, while Haywood
played 15 minutes off the bench and had seven points and six boards. The
Mavericks shot a putrid 32.3 percent from the field for the game and 7-of-21
from three-point range.
The game was tied, 59-59, early in the second half before Oklahoma City strung
together a 14-0 stretch over 6 1/2 minutes.
Dallas missed nine consecutive shots from the field, had another one blocked
and misfired on two free throw attempts, as the Thunder took control of the
game. Harden finished the spurt with four straight points via the free throw
line, and Oklahoma City held a 78-65 advantage after the third quarter.
Durant entered the fourth with 20 points, and, as the Thunder led by at least
eight for all of the final 12 minutes, the only question was whether Oklahoma
City's star would extend his streak.
He scored just two points in the first 11 minutes of the fourth before a 1-
of-2 stint at the free throw line gave him 23 with just under a minute to
play. A Dallas turnover with 38 seconds left gave Durant one final chance, and
he drove to the lane and drained a running jumper with 26.6 seconds left to
give him the 25 points and extend the incredible streak.
Butler scored six points for his new team in the first quarter, as the
Mavericks held a 26-16 advantage following 12 minutes of play.
The Thunder then exploded for 40 points in the second quarter to grab the
halftime lead.
Dallas led for most of the period as Oklahoma City battled back, and a
Westbrook layup had the hosts within 47-46 with under three minutes left.
Jason Terry's three quickly put the Mavs back up by six before a 10-2 burst to
close out the half gave the Thunder a 56-54 advantage on a Harden three in the
final seconds.
