BoSox make slew of roster moves before interleague set

06/11/2010 - Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Boston Red Sox made a quartet of roster moves on Friday, prior to the club's interleague series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Sox activated pitcher Jonathan Papelbon from the bereavement list, placed outfielder Jeremy Hermida on the 15-day disabled list with fractured ribs, recalled pitcher Scott Atchison from Triple-A Pawtucket and designated pitcher Joe Nelson for assignment.

Papelbon was 1-3 with a 3.00 earned-run average and 13 saves before stepping away from the team. Hermida is hitting just .217 with five homers and 27 RBI in 45 games this season.

Nelson had not recorded a decision while allowing 14 hits and nine runs in 8 1/3 innings over eight appearances for Boston this season.

Atchison was 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in nine games thus far for the Red Sox.
